Good initiative, I’m looking forward to your series. Regarding this:

“ Meanwhile, 53% of mobile visits are abandoned when a site takes longer than 3 seconds to load”

This study is often quoted, and just as often incorrectly interpreted. As far as I can tell, 53% of mobile visitors abandoning before 3 secs is not entirely attributed to poor performance. It’s not like 53% would stay if it loads faster. Surely, performance is a strong reason, but there can be other reasons for leaving. Most websites have early bounce rates well into the dozens of percentage points. Why? People misclicked, see a logo and think they’re on the wrong site, get interrupted, the list goes on.

Of course, this doesn’t take away from the fact that a fast loading website is critical and will have less users abandoning.
