I don’t really recognize the discrimination you mention. I’ve done full-stack development in PHP, .NET and a little bit of Java, yet at the same time am more of a front-end person.

If anything, back-end is relatively easy. Sure it can be complex, but when you build something, it will work. In the front-end, you need to be concerned with accessibility, performance, a ton of devices and a ton of browsers. That’s why they say that the web is the most hostile deployment environment ever.
