A few notes 1). I don’t think a journalist needs to have a university affiliation to write about history. I can guarantee you that there are folks who would probably disagree with my interpretation of history (and I hope they do!).

2). I’m not a fan of the naturalistic fallacy. I like reading silently to myself ;) I’m not saying privacy is bad, just that it’s never been a priority.

3). Privacy is often necessary to fight powerful actors. Though, that’s a pretty narrow use case for all of the things we hold secret.
