In Venice, Aperol spritz had bren imported in recent years. Venetian’s original spritz was made with “Select” instead of Aperol, a local liquor. It’s sometimes named “Venetian spritz".
This confirms the history about the origin of spritz being a way to make local wines and liquors more easy to drink during the day.
In Friuli, an eastern region historically in the Apsburg domines, a similar drink is named “white spritz” and is made with white wine and water. It comes directly from the Austrian “Weißweinschorle”.
