Yes, you highlight several important aspects. The final message however, is not something I fully agree. More than replacing a format by another, maybe the point is to keep the purpose of this “come together moment”. 
For instance, we added one question that is important for us: “are we still confident that we are going to make it?”. 
To make it short: keep the purpose, make all the rest optional.
