Fialta: Our Story

David, Beth, Sarah, and Mike (From Left)

We are Fialta, an indie pop band from San Luis Obispo, California. Made up of two married couples, Mike and Beth + David and Sarah, we joined forces in 2011 to write, record, produce and perform our eclectic vocals, keyboard, and percussion-driven synth pop.

In the last six years we’ve written, produced, and released two full length albums, booked self-managed tours, been featured in Paste, Nerdist, and on NPR, logged over a million plays on Spotify, executed a popular Kickstarter campaign, and earned titles of the Number 1 Pacific Album on Billboard and the Number 10 album on Billboard Heatseekers for our 2016 release, Shadow of a Drought. Our music has also been used widely in TV and film, including spots and/or guest appearances on shows like About a Boy, Parenthood, Teen Wolf, KMART, Teen Mom, Pretty Little Liars, Famous in Love, The Girlfriend’s Guide to Divorce, Atypical, and more. Through a combination of hard work, creative thinking, tough lessons learned, and dumb luck, we’ve paid our bills and achieved our dreams, all while remaining self-managed and without label representation.

While we have had a lot of great advice and guidance along the way, much of our knowledge has come to us through trial and error. It is now our passion to help mentor other bands through their indie journeys by providing free, beneficial, and edifying content to the indie music community. We believe that when it comes the economic freedom and livelihood of artists, a rising tide truly will lift all boats. Whatever we give as artists comes back to us tenfold. So, friends, we look forward to sharing more of our story here and providing you with diverse, practical, and inspiring content that is helpful and encouraging to musicians of all walks.

With love,

Fialta // Sarah, Mike, Beth and David
