The Easiest Crypto Miner Yet — Thorg
On the 23rd of September, Thorg got released to the public. And it’s going to revolutionize crypto mining/earning. Here’s what you need to know:
For weeks, a bot has plagued Golem’s Discord, writing mysterious messages and hinting at something. Community members have had so many ideas of what it could have meant, but now we finally know.
Thorg is a mining application for Windows. In the back, it currently mines Ethereum, and you get paid GLM tokens, the native token of the Golem Network. To keep fees low, all transactions are done on Polygon.
Unlike other miners, you get paid every hour to a wallet that you have control over, and the minimum payout is so microscopic that you would earn enough for it within minutes of mining. Keep in mind that Thorg was made to have an easy onboarding experience, with both fast and reliable payouts.
There are currently plans to include their current Linux-exclusive provider software within the Thorg miner, even for Windows users, which will make you contribute to various projects such as 3D-rendering or scientific research — which is not as wasteful as mining Ethereum.
As seen in the picture above, running my graphics card at 100% without having other programs running, I should be able to get $38.77 worth of GLM per month with a GTX 1070 card. But do keep in mind that you can change how much of the graphics card THORG uses, from not mining at all, to mining at the absolute max, and multiple settings in-between.
Personally, I run it on low-high settings depending on what I do. Playing certain video games might require more of my GPU than just chatting with someone on Discord. I wouldn’t be mining at all if it wasn’t for this easy-to-use program :)
The software also comes with an option to start automatically when you start the PC, making it possible to not have to interfere with it at all. I assume that this + the low or medium setting would be perfect for those who just want some mindless extra income, without caring much.
