About to go … hopefully

Good byes. Hard to say without a teary eye.

Looking back at the past three busy seasons that I have been working as an auditor with the largest professional services firm in the Philippines, I truly believe that it was a rewarding experience and it has allowed me to progress my career further.

I was employed immediately upon passing the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) board examination in the Philippines by SyCip Gorres Velayo & Co., a member firm of Ernst & Young Global Limited, and without much hesitation, I signed the contract the day after I passed the board exam.

What is a meaningful experience? For me, being able to work and learn with the best people is the perfect definition of a meaningful experience. For the past three busy seasons, I was able to learn a lot and from different people, each with their own perspective and are unique in their mindset. I learned to lead people and learned to chase my ideals at the same time. I learned to juggle multiple things at the same time without compromising quality.

Why is it hard to leave? Because of the people, these people, my partner-in-charge, manager and staff, they had been my everything during busy season. We have crossed bridges and beaten deadlines, we all believe that each audit completion is a job well done.

The teamwork and the team itself, it is undeniably one of the greatest things that I’ll be missing if I get accepted with my application with Ernst & Young Glasgow, Scotland. I will definitely miss the kids of my team (my staff) who accompanies me in each overtime and overnights that we had just to close out the audit. These kids, they’ve really grown roots in my heart, they are the reason that I am still not ready to go until now.

I am currently in the last stage of my interview and hopefully I still wish that I will be accepted after the last round of interview. While I still wish to be accepted to the new office, I am still not ready to let go and leave these kids. I know that they still have a lot to learn and they can learn from whoever will succeed my current engagements, but I think (ok… I admit) that I am too clingy to leave them yet.

August 11 will be my final interview date. Hopefully, everything would go well and I’ll be ready to go soon. Maybe I need to get used to a new environment and leave my current comfort zone. Hopefully, everything would go well.
