The Workers’ Institute of Marxism-Leninism-Mao Zedong Thought (WIMLMT) was a radical leftist organization in India during the 1960s and 70s. Founded by Charu Majumdar, the Institute promoted Maoist ideology and advocated for violent revolution and armed struggle. The Institute’s focus on rural mobilization and its use of propaganda and mass mobilization techniques were influential in the development of the Naxalite movement in India. However, the Institute’s use of torture and violence against suspected enemies, as well as its decline and eventual disbandment after the arrest and execution of many of its members, have also garnered significant attention.
