The Power of Writing: Masterful Form Of Expression
Some days ago, one of the trending stories discussed what motivates writers to write. Here’s what I think about it.
“The mind, once stretched by a new idea, never returns to its original dimensions.”
— Ralph Waldo Emerson
Once upon a time, one wise person said that books are powerful because they contain idea that stretches the mind by making the reader think. Honestly, I am not sure whether It sounded exactly like this but that’s how I understood it back then.
The quote was stuck in my head for quite some time.
It followed me everywhere I’d go.
Like there was some kind of a hidden meaning inside that silently whispered promises to me.
Finally, one day I grew sick of all that anticipation so I went to the bathroom to wash off my thoughts.
The wandering under the hot shower ended up in a discovery that made me happy. I thought to myself, “To be able to plant a seed in another person’s mind that will intrigue them to search for more… A thought that will make them twist it, squeeze it, and chew on it as an itchy jaw does with gum until something is born out of it. A thought that will stretch their mind, broaden their views and add another layer to their understanding of the world. That must be one of the godlike abilities that only a few possess.”
Isn’t that exactly what happened to me at that moment? Of course, it was.
Honestly, can you just take a second to think about how powerful that is?
It’s insane to think that some neatly connected symbols on the screen carry magic potent enough to unlock whole new worlds in people’s minds.
A word that carries a meaning; an idea that enters the mind and interacts freely with existing thoughts until the big bang happens, causing a new universe to open up.
To make such an impact on another mind must be a mark of a great writer and even greater thinker.
A pure sense of power wrapped around good intentions and curiosity is what elevates my passion for writing. That is my final answer.
Writing is truly a masterful form of expression at its finest.
