My name is Sidhant. Over the next few weeks, I will be designing a website for the UNC Portfolio Management Team. This group of about 30 or so students manages a $40,000 fund given by the UNC Kenan-Flagler endowment foundation that serves a purpose to teach students about long-only equities. This website will allow club members to monitor the portfolio, have access to resources, and provide feedback to the executive board.
Given that it is a student-run investment fund, security will be of high-importnace. As such, I have chosen to use the UNC Onyen authentication method in order to ensure only UNC students can have access to the website. Although I would rather design my own website for this purpose and customize the way I want, the only way to use the Onyen authenticator is to use the web.unc.edu service, a WordPress portal specifically for UNC students.
Today, I have attained the web address for the website and have the basics of what I want to have on the website. Next, I will find a way to import the Dashboard (currently hosted on a Google spreadsheet) onto the website that way users will not need to leave the webpage. I am not entirely sure this will work but let’s see how this pans out. Onwards…
