I’m definitely guilty of sitting at my computer for hours on end, not to mention the hours I spend sitting in traffic each day, so I find that physical exercise is crucial to maintaining my physical and mental well-being. I’m lucky enough to live close to a park with lots of great hiking trails. I’ve also found that walking, as opposed to jogging or more vigorous exercise, is more conducive to idea generation. So even though the utilitarian in me wants to maximize the calorie burn in each workout (plus I’m impatient), I’ve found that forcing myself to slow down occasionally and allow some time for rumination is key.
