It’s that time of year, springtime.
Easter is here.
I was doing a little spring cleaning.
I opened my drawer where I keep my pin collection.
There I saw a set of eyes looking back at me.
Upon closer inspection it turns out it’s the Easter Bunny!!!
That kind of got me thinking………….………
I wanted to know more about how we ended up with a bunny who hides eggs for Easter?
So, I did a little reading and here is what I found out.
Easter began as a holiday to be observed hundreds of years ago.
It commemorated the rising of Christ from the dead.
It slowly became known for renewal, bringing forth of life such as spring flowers & nature.
Then around the 18th century the Easter celebration began to include eggs.
They would decorate them & they would be made of various materials.
There was even an egg hunt.
It wasn’t till the Pennsylvania Germans suggested that in the spring.
The “Easter bunny” would hide eggs or place eggs in an upside-down hat that was left overnight.
Today we have baskets filled with plastic grass, chocolate, toys, jelly beans and plastic eggs filled with surprises.
Don’t forget the Easter bunny, right?
Now that we know where the Easter bunny came from.
We also have a multitude of products shaped and dedicated to the Easter Bunny as well.
Case in point:
Back to the pin I found earlier.
Below are some photos of the Easter Bunny from the drawer.
I have also included the history of the maker.
PANETTA JEWELRY HISTORY
In business 1945–1980s
In the early 1900s the Italian born Beneditto Panetta moved to America.
Prior to moving he manufactured and sold fine jewelry in Italy.
Panetta worked for Trifari and Pennino, designing some of their costume jewelry.
Then in 1945 Beneditto & sons founded Panetta jewelry in New York, NY.
Panetta jewelry is extremely well made.
The plating process is such that it could pass for authentic precious metals.
They also used Sterling Silver in their designs.
Panetta jewelry is highly collectable due to it’s quality and design.
