Ironically, I have felt so deluged by ‘peak TV’ that I am more likely than ever to seek out big screen offerings. I find myself only being able to concentrate on the very best series; and conversely have become much more adept at watching poorly reviewed feature films in a distraction-free cinema. I hope this news about Netflix means that their long-term plan is in fact more than token cinema releases to make themselves eligible for more awards. That is, wide releases, so that as large an audience as possible will be able to watch their feature length movies in the comfortable darkness of a movie theater.
