Hers is an intoxicating stereotype, telling thin people that their bodies are a manifestation of their happiness and success, and that lecturing fat people on how to lose weight is a charitable act to save us from ourselves. I am so often seen through the thick fog of her sadness.
… or fatter. It doesn’t tell you how I feel about myself, or what I’ve learned, or how I’ve changed. Judging someone by the size of their body is strictly visual, and it flattens a whole, beautiful, complex body and an unknown, extraordinary person.
