Arguably one of the most important parts of a kitchen’s design, a great backsplash becomes the focal point of your space, so finding your perfect match is key! With endless colors, shapes, sizes and styles to choose from, we know it can be a challenging decision to make so we are highlighting five of our absolute favorite backsplash trends to try.

1.) A Colorful Classic

One of our favorite backsplash trends will always be a classic 3x6 subway tile. Named after its common appearance in subway stations, this timeless choice will never go out of style and is extremely versatile, making it a pretty safe bet for any kitchen style. Want to step your subway tile up a notch? Add Color! We love how this traditional kitchen adds a splash of green tile to offset the white cabinetry and neutral decor.

2.) Playful Pattern

It’s no surprise that we are pattern-obsessed, and with so many specialty shapes available in the world of tile, why wouldn’t we be? As a focal point, the kitchen backsplash is the perfect place to get playful with pattern, whether you choose a vibrant color, or a cool neutral, a patterned backsplash will add visual interest and dimension to your kitchen design. We love how this streamlined kitchen adds personality with our ocean inspired Wave shape in a cool blue hue.

3. ) Timeless White

A classic white backsplash will always be one of our favorites, why you ask?–White is simultaneously on trend and timeless, two adjectives that rarely go hand in hand in the design world. A white tile backsplash acts as a blank slate for the rest of your kitchen, and there are a ton of ways to make it it custom to your needs. We suggest pairing white tile with a variety of contrasting textures the way this contemporary kitchen did with wood shelving and concrete countertops. Want to add a little color? Try a white tile backsplash with colorful cabinetry, or a painted colorful accent wall. And don’t forget that you don’t need to stay stuck inside the box of standard field tile, white looks great in specialty shapes as well!

4. ) Handpainted For You

Handpainted tiles are truly works of art in our mind. Highly customizable, handpainted tile offers a backsplash option that is uniquely yours. You choose the colors, the pattern, the design and voilà! An envy-worthy backsplash made just for you! This Spanish-inspired kitchen highlights their arched backsplash with a framed masterpiece of handpainted tile in our Coimbra Medallian pattern.

5.) Industrial Chic

We think Brick and industrial decor were made for each other. WIth its clean lines and textured surface, this rustic yet contemporary option is an ideal choice for an industrial-style kitchen in need of a little warmth and sophistication. We love how our Glazed Thin Brick transforms this contemporary kitchen into a warm and inviting industrial chic haven.
