Great advice, Alex Valaitis! I did my degree in “two steps separated by 30 years.” Originally, majored in Chemistry and came up short completing it (a boring story in the past). I then went back to college after being RIF’d from my career. I changed majors to something I was passionate about: Geosciences. About halfway through, I added a minor in Geography ( I love maps). By the time I graduated, my “accumulated credit” covered Geology, Geography, Chemistry, and Mathematics, as well as a jumpstart on a Masters in Geography (on hold). Match these areas with a lifelong career and continuous learning in computer science, I have so many cross-skills!

My advice: learn as much as you can about as much as you can to make your passions work in every way possible!
