10 Years of iPhone! What to expect?
With 2017 marking the 10th anniversary of the iPhone it looks like Apple is planning something special to mark the occasion. Rumour has it that Apple has been testing out more than ten prototype iPhone models and although it is not entirely clear what we can expect the new iPhone is expected to have a glass body, integrated Touch ID fingerprint sensor and front facing camera. Below is a full list of features that have been hinted at:
Apple may be moving back to the glass-backed body last seen on the iPhone 4s. Although glass is heavier than aluminium the thickness and weight of the display will be cut down through the use of OLED.
Rumours suggest there will be three versions of the upcoming iPhone 8, a 2premium” OLED model and two standard devices, with sizes that may include 4.7 and 5.5-inch. Alternatively Apple may offer the iPhone 8 in just two sizes both with a curved, bezel-free display, but only one will feature OLED technology.
As discussed at least one iPhone 8 model is likely to feature a flexible OLED display. With its flexibility OLED displays will enable Apple to create a more curved, wraparound display and also eliminate the need for backlighting. OLED displays also offer better contrast, truer colours and better power efficiency to extend battery life.
The camera introduced in the 5.5 inch iPhone 7 Plus is likely to be a feature exclusive to high-end iPhone 8 models. We can expect optical image stabilization as well as support for 3D photography effects if Apple opts to use an LG camera module.
The iPhone 8 is expected to be upgraded to an A11 chip and like all of Apple’s chip upgrades will be faster and more energy efficient.
We can potentially expect an embedded home button in the latest iPhone as opposed to the current location on the iPhone 7. Actions like the unlocking of the iPhone and Touch ID payment will use vibrations as a trigger thanks to a more advanced Taptic engine.
Long range wireless changing could purportedly be implemented is iPhones as soon as 2017. Rumours of a glass body would support the wireless charging theory since its functionality works better without an aluminium casing.
With Apple releasing its iPhone updates in September, we are looking forward to offering the new device(s) to business users as part of our Universe Mobile bundle.
