How Your Apartment Affects Happiness

There is a direct correlation between where you live and your overall happiness in life. Believe it or not, where you live has a shockingly large impact on your happiness. And what is life all about? Why do we do what we do every day? To find happiness wherever we can find it. Ideally, you’ve already found a path in life that gives you happiness, now you just need the right place to live to fill in the gap.
There are a number of contributing factors to what makes you love where you live or downright despise it. Very rarely will you ask someone about their living situation without receiving a strongly opinionated rant whether positive or negative. We’ve heard it or experienced it all before. Horrible roommates, maintenance, neighbors, and sometimes just downright old and outdated apartments with major problems.
What makes one person happy can be so different than another. Some find solace in their quest for knowledge, career, family, social life, building things, exploring the wild, it goes on and on. Most, however, aim to find happiness in the form of a career and although not impossible, it is difficult to obtain.
Even if you find the right career, you might not like the politics or co-workers at your job. All these other things that make you happy aren’t stable. We all have ups and downs, but where you live has to be that comfortable place you can always retreat to find peace and happiness. Even just knowing you have such a place waiting for you after every day can make a huge difference.
Different things about an apartment are important to people and make them happy or very unhappy. Others are standard, everyone wants their apartment to be as new as possible and have the latest appliances and technology. Apartments under construction today are miles ahead of apartments built in the 1960s-1990s. Believe it or not, most people live in apartments built several decades ago. That can be totally fine as long as your property management company has continued to upgrade the community and apartments.
New isn’t just about vanity. New is the belief we all have that if everything is new, it is less likely to break down. As in a new air conditioning, stove, oven, fridge, water heater, thermostat, shower, etc. Even the very building itself is considered old if built in the 1970s. Here’s the irony, with the right maintenance, the age means nothing. Think of major cities both in the U.S. and around the world that have been around for thousands or even hundreds of years. Some of the most expensive penthouses, town homes, and apartments have been around for centuries and have just kept up with the times. It’s truly amazing.
