I Did Something Racist At Work

The first thing that popped into my mind was “oh no someone spent too much time ruminating until guilt is achieved”, but when I mulled over it(guilty of it myself) , what happened was because of the immaturity of South East Asian people (especially Malaysia, and in your case, Singapore) when dealing with racism.

Racism over here used to be subversive, people didn’t loudly proclaim the supremacy of a particular race. Now it has been more abusive, everyone insults each other openly, becomes hypersensitive to the slightest provocation, and the victims become racists themselves. This circle of racism is seriously eating Malaysia alive, from where I stand, and it is the bane of any multicultural nation.

It’s probably your first time dealing first-hand with a blatant racist bigot, and you had a natural reaction, no big deal. What’s beautiful is how you resolved to deal with another racist the next time. Compared to most people in Malaysia who would get riled up and caught up within the circle of racial abuse, you certainly are something else!
