The “Around the World” shoulder exercise is a dynamic and effective shoulder-strengthening exercise that primarily targets the deltoid muscles. Here’s how to perform it:

  1. Setup: Stand straight with your feet shoulder-width apart. Grasp a weight plate or a pair of dumbbells in front of your chest, hands at 9 and 3.
  2. Lift: Lift the weight up and to one side, circling it around your head by moving your arms. You’ll feel your shoulder muscles firing as the weight makes its revolution all the way around.
  3. Repeat: Continue this motion 10 times, then reverse direction for 10 revolutions.

This exercise helps to open up and strengthen the shoulders, as well as the core and the upper back. It’s an excellent way to improve shoulder mobility, enhance muscle tone, and build strength in your deltoids and rotator cuff muscles. Always maintain proper form and control the movement to avoid injury.
