Ashland Welcomes the Author who runs With Donkeys and Hidden Mexican Tribes

5 P.M. on a Tuesday night, runners slowly gather at the Rogue Valley Runners store in Ashland, OR. Shoes are laced, ready to go as the people of the Rogue Valley awkwardly chit chat waiting for the man of the evening, author Chris McDougall. Two days after the release of his new book “Running with Sherman,” Chris and special guest Scott Juerk popped into Ashland for a trail run through Lithia with the Rouge Valley running community and talk at Bloomsbury books.

Chris exclaimed in front of the small crowd of runners, patiently listening while he explained the drive behind his national bestseller. The rouge valley running store in downtown Ashland is owned by famous ultrarunner Hal Korner, who has run 120 ultramarathons around the world, finishing in the top three 75% of the time. Here at home, he promotes a running lifestyle as race director for local events including the Pine to Palm 100 Mile endurance run and the Lithia Loop Trail Marathon.
