Rising sea levels, more Co2 in the atmosphere, forest fires, and coral bleaching. Climate change is happening. There is no more time to watch it all unfold or ignore the problem because the time to act is now.

Greta Thunberg, a 16-year-old girl from Sweden has become the face of the strike for climate change. As an activist, Greta has been touring Canada, Europe, and major cities in the US, organizing students to strike and stand up for the planet and future generations.

On October 14th, a peaceful climate strike called “the extinction rebellion” was banned by police at Trafalgar Square in London. This created an uprise among activists because people have the right to freedom of expression if done so peacefully!

“If standing up against the climate and ecological breakdown and for humanity is against the rules then the rules must be broken”

— Greta Thunberg

Climate change, however, does not seem to be an existing or pressing issue for many politicians, including Donald Trump. On September 23, 2019, Greta Thunberg spoke at the U.N Climate Action Summit in New York City, bringing forward a powerful speech in front of World leaders. Donald Trump even had the audacity to mock her on twitter.

A day after winning Time Magazine’s person of the year, mocking a 16-year-old girl on the Asperger spectrum via twitter was clearly not enough the first time. The 73-year-old president of the United States released a tweet on Thursday, December 12 attacking Greta while his wife works on an antibullying campaign. The irony.
