Celebrating Our Small Businesses

Fitzpatrick Recognizes Small Business Week

This week we recognize Small Business Week, a national celebration of the 28 million small businesses in the United States — and an opportune time to focus on the important role small business plays in our economy.

The numbers are undeniable: Half of the American workforce is employed at small businesses and small business creates nearly seven out of every 10 new jobs across the nation.

For the last three summers, I’ve had the pleasure of visiting 100 businesses in 100 days — speaking to employers and employees, and listening to their interests, concerns and takes on the economic landscape. Based on my travels throughout Bucks and Montgomery counties, I can safely say our region understands that small businesses fuel the U.S. economic engine.

Whether it is the family farm, the technology start-up or your favorite restaurant in town — these places embody the entrepreneurial spirit that makes our nation great and the pride Americans have in our work. Let’s make Small Business Week a week of action to strengthen and encourage the small and family owned businesses that make our nation and our communities special.
