What is Socialization?

Communication is something we all need to work on. We use it every day. At work, with friends, and even online when you leave a comment or share anything at all. But with all the communication that is happening, not a lot of people are as socialized as others.

Some people are good communicators and others are socialized. While it may sound like the same thing it’s quite different. I am not a very good communicator. Ask almost any of my friends and family and it will seem like I don’t interact with anyone at all. But I am quite socialized to understand how to be a part of a group. Add a few drinks in me and I might take over the conversation without thinking about it.

It’s good to have a balance between the two. Each one has its strengths and weaknesses. The better you become at the two, the better equipped you will be to deal with any kind of social situation.

The difference between being socialized and a good communicator

A communicator will be a person that always wants to engage and be in the conversation. They know how to express what they’re going through. This is a crucial skill to have if you’re a doctor. If you are doing surgery on someone, not communicating with the nurses can cost someone’s life.

But a lot of doctors when they start out, are not very socialized. They kind of fumble through conversation giving you an awkward aura when you’re around them. And it’s no one’s fault, they spend a lot more time in books…
