I have two friends who were live music junkies and simply set up their own concert promoter business and learned the ropes bottom-up. They were barely 21 when they dived into it, had nothing lose and just plenty to learn (with guts and sweat not sold separately). :)

I loved watching live sports events and I took to the sports journalism trade 10 years ago, and a decade later, still at it — now in sports broadcasting tho as I may just feel too ‘old’ for all that live adrenaline pumping!

Many who love Philosophy would find teaching in higher education a very fitting career. Or running a blog and establish oneself as a thought leader with his/her philosophical inclinations, then there’s Ted talks and the like.

Spending time with kids could be the best motivation to start a freelance business from home — consultant, writer, plenty of online businesses really!

I suppose what the author is really advocating for at the end of the day is to think outside the box on how to align what you love with what you can do. And how much you really want to live an alternative lifestyle in that sense!
