Writing to think.

There is a story in everyone or about any being.

Most people can talk, most people can write. Some people cannot talk but they can write. Stephen Hawking come to mind?

The philosophers in their search for meaning-” I think therefore I am”, “To be is to do”, “Time is being” should be appended with writing is existing. it is our very existence our descriptor, our abstraction, our unlimited creation our window into our id. It is free and belongs to us all.

Feeling down, a little disjointed, out of synch perhaps? Did you know that a large area of the brain is dedicated to the use and activity of your hands when compared to for example the rest of your body? Connect the two together and you have a window into how to make yourself feel better and at one with the world again and perhaps even to explain it to yourself and others.

Share with others the joy, the angst , the story, paint a picture in words.

Lets look at the excuses not to write for about 10 minutes a day.You might say that you use your hands a lot at work any way why should you engage in wasting more time? The point is that you are undertaking a form of yoga, a mental meditation if you like in your own time and mind, without production to be judged by others. Other excuses may be that you don’t have time, start a few minutes at a time. You are not creative, no problem, write anything that comes into your head, what is going through it now? Write that down, are you perhaps reminiscing about when you are forced to write, like lines at school for punishment? Write what you are processing, whether it be the dull boring floor tiles you are looking at or scene out your windows, the things you always meant to do with yourself but could never somehow manage it.

It costs hardly anything at all what price could you pick up a pen and a blank book , pennies I suggest. Even cheaper than any other activity that you could think of. Start thinking , what could be cheaper write it down just to disabuse me.

Look at me, I’m seeing my punishment lines right now-” My natural verbosity is in direct antithesis to the effective consummation of my academic career”. Repeat 100 times or magnitudes thereof according to the gravity of the offence. It certainly made one reflect. Writing makes you reflect, a form of personal mental gymnastics but others could see if you wanted to make it public. What do you see?

That’s right, write. If you find it hard to write its easy when you know how. Get a pen and piece of paper or even a keyboard. What will you write? Let me give you a clue, anything and everything. Anything that comes into your mind and do this for about 10 minutes a day preferably in the morning when you should be at your most productive. Take the scene from “The Shining” our Johnny is typing furiously away “ All work and no play, makes Jack a dull boy” and so on ad infinitum. I am not proposing you do this, but you could if you lack a little inspiration shall we say.

Lack of creativity is often cited as an excuse, challenge yourself, write about the inside of ping pong ball, write about your bed, your job . The list is endless and only you are stopping yourself . Write for yourself and nobody else. Write.

So you got disturbed, make up your flow when you want but do it. When I started to write this, I did not think I could.
