I was initially a bit dismissive of the big reveal in this episode, but having watched it again, I think it was really cleverly done. After season 1’s Mr Robot twist, I didn’t think I’d be caught out again so easily again, but I did not see this twist coming at all. That probably says something about my own naïvety.

Anyway, Elliot staying at his mom’s place always felt like a self-imposed prison, so the idea that it was a prison in Elliot’s mind within a real prison is something quite powerful. Replaying all of the scenes in this season up until that point, like we did in season 1, in this next context adds a new dimension into something already complex.

I was definitely more mad at myself than the show!
