I’m with the gist of this article — players are always the ones feeling the pressure to take less to help the “team,” when in the NBA the this really just means the owner. That said, the effort to villainize these owners based on their industry is a ridiculous stretch. When did helping people finance college tuition or the purchase of a home become a bad thing? I’m sure the goal of the Rockets’ owner is to ‘saddle college kids with debt,’ as if he’s a cross between the monopoly man and King Joffrey. There are also plenty of things for which you can criticize Dan Gilbert, but accusing him of being ‘instrumental’ in creating the urban blight situation in Detroit? Come on.
