I was going to respond to this article, and then I realized that
- It was written from a “Never-Trump” point of view.
- The statistical data do not indicate much of anything and are in fact quite noisy.
- The authors might as well have asked “So when did you stop beating your wife?”
- There is no way such a viewpoint can arrive at an unbiased view of who the Trump voters are and what their motivations might be.
Nobody can refute this garbage. In the words of the late physicist Wolfgang Pauli: “It’s so bad, it is not even wrong.”
I used to think that writing for The Economist required significant intellectual honesty and prowess. Clearly I was very wrong.
