What happened when I went for a run in my I’M WITH HER shirt after the election
Elizabeth Licorish

There are at least three themes here that really should be dealt with separately.

First, the wolf-whistle and all variants of it are wrong. It is boorish and ugly. It’s been ugly for a long time. Why do men do this? Because there are enough women who like it that those men think it’s worth the possibility that they might be insulting someone who could fight back. The solution is to teach both boys and girls that this is wrong.

Second, the uncivil crap that BOTH sides give to those who voted for this or that candidate is wrong. Whether you voted for Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump is no cause to be uncivilized. Ladies and Gentlemen, please don’t wear your politics or your religion on your sleeve. It belongs in your mind. Live by your creed, but don’t attempt to foist it upon others.

Third, the insecurity of most voters is not matched by what actually happens. There will be wining causes and there will be losing causes. Blaming the candidate on Evil White Men (tm) is a hair-brained excuse to avoid addressing the real problem: Hillary Clinton couldn’t get enough people excited enough to vote for her. Truthfully both parties were really scraping the bottom of the barrel with the candidates that won in the primaries. Donald Trump was hardly a stellar candidate for president. Had any other well known politician of either sex run against Donald Trump, she or he probably would have won.

If you want to not worry about our society, get involved in building something better. Also get involved in talking to those who have been disenfranchised. They voted against “HER” for a reason. Don’t make stuff up; find out what they were voting for or voting against and figure out how to peel some of those votes away for the mid-term elections.

Or you could just sit here and write emotive self-righteous blogs. It’s up to you.
