I created an account on this website just for this comment.*

I’ve been an OKC member for about 10 years, since the days of TheSpark and Humor Rainbow and Visitors being called Stalkers. I first joined just for the quizzes. I can remember that dating type quiz where my result was The Sonnet, which I rather loved. I’ve also answered more than a thousand personality questions over the years, which has resulted in a pretty accurate picture of me…if anyone was able to see the detailed personality results that you used to have, which have since been reduced to a very brief graph.

I was sad when you made quizzes harder to find, and again when you removed the link altogether. I could still find my results by typing in the URL on my profile, but I haven’t checked in a while, so that could very well be gone by now too. QuickMatch used to be useful, but now (especially in the mobile app) it is just another photo swiping app. In reading other people’s comments, I am reminded of other features you’ve gotten rid of: friend reviews, ice breakers, and comparing your quiz results with someone else’s. There are recent changes that I didn’t even know about: removing diet as a search option (not an issue for me, but I know a lot of vegetarians) and completely hiding people who fall outside the age and location range you have set in your preferences.

And now Visitors. Like many other people who have commented, I am very shy, and visiting someone’s profile is the only way I show interest. Likes don’t matter, and I’ve never sent a first message. Seeing who’s visited me shows me new profiles to check out that I may not have seen otherwise, and also shows me if anyone I’ve visited has visited me back. Unless I receive a message from someone, your site is now useless to me.

Acting like Incognito Mode is a new thing that hasn’t always been an option is not just disingenuous, but also a cheap ploy to get more people to pay for A List. I’m not buying it, and neither will most users.

I hate, hate, hate POF’s design and UI, but I might have to spend my time there from now on.

Lastly, I want to echo a very important comment that a woman left earlier: without being able to see who visits us, a woman won’t know if someone really IS stalking her. I’ve had a man delete his profile and create a new one multiple times to find me as well (as I’d block him each time). You’ve now made every woman on OKC feel less safe (whether they’re interested in men or not, they all get visited by them).

*(What kind of website is this, anyway? There is no way to sort through comments, nor are they in chronological order, so every time I come back to this entry to see how the comments have blown up, I see comments I’ve already read mixed up with new ones, so there’s no way to know who commented when.)
