Form follows function or form follows context?

A Starck juicer. Lets be honest looks good but if it worked well it would look like and work like the one you get in a chinese store. Its form does not follow function. Its form follows context. The context being the smart kitchen of the modern guy that needs a design icon to set the scene. Have a browse at great packaging design solutions from a great agency and you ll always find something thats not so great and we´re quick to say “thats not very good”. Well form doesn’t follow function. Form follows context. The context being the client made a mistake with what they asked for or they paid 100€ for the job.

In the context of “lets have some fun” these examples from http://ototodesign.com are superb.

P.S. The hard question always is whats the context. Id buy the ladle for myself and the sub as a gift.
