How Frank Can Provide Value As A Zapier Customer Champion

Peaking in coolness when I was 5. Not a Customer Champion yet, but a champ nonetheless.

Dear Micah, Bonnie, Tom, Thomas, Erin (and the rest of the team),

First, thank you for letting me get this far — I am very grateful.

You have a really tough job hiring the right people and I know there are many talented people applying.

I’m sure there are more.

But I do believe I would be a good Customer Champion. Luckily, while I’m not quite as as fly as when I was in the picture above, I’m a bit wiser and can type a little bit faster on the computer.

Helping Customers

Wade mentioned on Nathan Latka’s podcast that when customers set up their first zap and it fires, it’s the “holy cow!” moment that makes them lifetime Zapier users.

I love helping people solve their problems and seeing someone have that “holy cow!” moment makes me happy. If I’m lucky enough to work for Zapier, I would channel that into reducing the friction between the millions of small business owners and their successful tasks!

I’m happy tackling the queue with the team and getting responses out in under an hour. Plus, I’d enjoy helping people on other parts of the internet as well! For now, I’ll keep sending people like Exastiken to your current crack team of Customer Champions.

Even on Reddit the Zapier love is strong (and you don’t even have a cat API, yet).

I would also enjoy writing documentation to help Zapier users. It seems like the framework usually includes:

  • All supported triggers and actions
  • How to Get Started
  • Common Problems
  • Popular Things To Do with the App

One of my favorite tools that my current team uses is Small Improvements. Once Small Improvements makes it out of beta, Zapier could start documentation with something like the section below.

How to Get Started with Small Improvements on Zapier

The first thing you’ll need to do to get started with hooking up Small Improvements with Zapier and the hundreds of apps we work with is adding your Small Improvements account to Zapier. When the time is right, we’ll ask you to add your Account:

You should get a pop-up window from Small Improvements asking you to log in with your credentials:

After entering in your login credentials, you’ll get sent back to Zapier where you now have your Small Improvements account connected!

Throughout the interview process, I was able to hear about some of the unique challenges Zapier takes on. I would do whatever I could to help with getting people to understand logic, to scaling the way company information is organized, to keeping the culture amazing as the team grows (my current team enjoys playing Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes!).

Zapier is my dream company, both because of the product and the internal culture. And I want to build a career at Zapier. I would love to be a team player and contribute to your future however I can.
