Reactions to our Adventure
(How to Win Friends and Be Influenced by People)

The closer it came to launch day and the further we now progress along our route, the more encouraged we become in this foolhardy adventure. Safe to say this is in no way due to increased organisation, improved mechanical skills, or kilometres gained under Watson's fanbelt. However we have each met an increasing number of people who show some enthusiasm, or at least amusement, when hearing about our little roadtrip.
"So where did you guys start driving?"
"Southern England"
"and where to now?"
"umm, Mongolia"
"... (burst of laughter)" "now that's a proper adventure!" "oooooh..."
Of course those well intended queries of routes or anticipated problems were always bound to be a little stressful, even if intended with love. Yet some newer reactions have proven to be almost gratifying. Not because any one here is seeking approval or reassurance of being the biggest baddest Mongol Rallier, but because it’s a reminder that this really is an adventure, and that’s the spirit in which we came here.
So each chuckle, snort, or "best of luck to you" warms our foolish hearts, and we thank any of our lovely readers who have done just so. But those questions regarding our mechanical or Russian speaking skills? Maybe not so much...
