Poloniex recently tweeted and emailed out their plans to de-list FLO from their exchange. We are currently contacting their team to see what can be done. While there is no particular central source of validation for crypto projects, it may be fair to say that the community turns to exchanges for guidance. The goal exchanges have is to allow people to trade coins from a diverse group of crypto projects, and in that niche, they provide a valuable and necessary service to the crypto community.
We regret to hear about their decision, but at the same time, we don’t count out the possibility that we were also at fault for failing to keep the crypto community up-to-date with FLO. The majority of our community is dev-focused, and most of our activity is on our Github pages and within the developer Rocket Chat; not within Telegram or Twitter.
FLO has been very dev-active in this space for the past 5 years, with updates being pushed up to Github almost on a daily basis. There was no ICO nor was there a premine of FLO at its launch. All of the code we’ve written has been free software.
Alexandria update
The Alexandria team, with 4 full time developers, has made fast progress in their OIP — Open Index Protocol — over the past year. They’ve also contributed a significant amount to the FLO core codebase and its infrastructure. The Alexandria team was a major factor in delivering the segwit upgrade to FLO as well as upgrading FLO to our most recent block explorer https://flocha.in.

We look forward to the future working on FLO within our own community and externally collaborating with the community of contributors building dapps on top of our blockchain. Although an exchange de-listing can be seen as a major setback, it is also a wake-up call to our close-knit group to better inform the entire crypto userbase what we’re doing and why it’s awesome.
