It’s Not Summer Without You (Summer, #2) By Jenny Han

One girl. Two boys. An impossible decision to make . . .

Ah, summer. The season of sun-kissed skin, salty hair, and first loves. For Isabel, summers have always meant one thing: the magical beach house owned by her family friends, a place where time seems to stand still and happiness hangs in the air like the scent of sunscreen. But this summer, the carefree days of childhood are fading like the light on a long summer night.

Gone are the lazy afternoons spent with Conrad, the boy who claimed her heart. College has whisked him away, leaving Isabel grappling with a void only he could fill. Her heart aches with every beat, a constant reminder of what she’s lost.

Then there’s Jeremiah, Conrad’s younger brother and Isabel’s lifelong confidant. Jeremiah, with his easy smile and unwavering loyalty, has always been her rock. But this summer, something feels different. The line between friendship and something more blurs with every shared glance, every stolen laugh. Could this be her chance at a new kind of happiness, one that doesn’t leave her clinging to the past?

Torn between the familiar ache for Conrad and the blossoming possibility with Jeremiah, Isabel finds herself at a crossroads. Change, as inevitable as the tide, threatens to pull her under. The life she knew, the one she desperately wants to hold onto, is slipping through her fingers like sand.

But what if letting go is the key to discovering a future more beautiful than she could have ever imagined? Could embracing the unknown lead her to a love story that’s truly hers? In this captivating sequel to “The Summer I Turned Pretty,” Isabel must confront her fears, navigate the complexities of love and loss, and ultimately decide what kind of woman she wants to be.

Book 2 in The Summer I Turned Pretty series — now a major new TV show on Amazon Prime!

Name: Amelia Shepherd

Review: This book ripped my heart out and slowly pieced it back together. Belly’s grief for Conrad’s mother felt so real, and the way her relationship with both Conrad and Jeremiah shifted was heartbreaking to witness. I loved seeing more of Conrad’s vulnerable side, but Jeremiah stole my heart with his unwavering support for Belly. This book is a beautiful exploration of grief, love, and the complexities of growing up.

Name: Liam Davies

Review: “It’s Not Summer Without You” was an emotional rollercoaster! I felt every bit of Belly’s confusion and heartache as she navigated her feelings for Conrad and Jeremiah. The love triangle was intense, and I honestly switched sides a few times! The author perfectly captures the awkwardness and intensity of teenage love, making it impossible to put the book down. I can’t wait to see how the trilogy ends!

Name: Harper Jones

Review: While I enjoyed the first book, this one truly captivated me. The characters felt more mature, and the story dealt with heavier themes of loss and responsibility. I appreciated how Jenny Han didn’t shy away from the messy realities of grief and its impact on relationships. The ending left me breathless and desperate for the next book. This series is definitely one that stays with you long after you finish reading.
