3 Reasons why should consider Flowmatik versus Typeform and Google Forms
First of all; Typeform, Google Forms and other form builder work great. They’re lightweight, easy to set up and offer an solid experience to the end user.
So why would you use Flowmatik? Here are the top 3 reasons why should should considering Flowmatik for your next project.
Reason 1: Flowmatik doesn’t store your data
At Flowmatik we care deeply about your data. We explicitly mentioned your data. We’re not in the data storage business nor do we want to be. So if you build a flow in Flowmatik, we only temporarily store your data so that a user can come back to the point where it left off. We call this feature ‘Auto Save & Complete Later’. As a user, you have full control over your data retention policy. You can set it between 1 and 30 days. This also means you need to make sure you have a Google Sheets, .csv export or Zapier integration in place before the retention period ends as the collected data will be deleted after this period. This makes Flowmatik fundamentally different from form builders like Typeform, Formstack and Google Forms. We’re merely a tool to build and manage flows/forms while forms builders also store your data. A benefit of of third party like Typeform storing your data is that you can always retrieve the data from them and you can run analyses on it. With Flowmatik you can run analytics on where users drop off, which fields they struggle with etc. We don’t offer content related analytics like ‘how many respondents are from Canada’ as don’t store such data.
It depends per company and situation how comfortable you are with third parties across different countries storing your user data.
We use Amazon Webservices data storage solution based in Frankfurt, Germany.
Reason 2: Flowmatik flows can contain third party content
Let’s say your registration flow consist of out of these 4 steps;
- Watch the welcome video (hosted on Youtube)
- Read the new joiners manual (currently a Wordpress blog)
- Sign a contract (done in Docusign)
- Fill in your contact details (currently done in a Google Form)
With Flowmatik you can easily bundle these steps into 1 flow. You just need to share 1 simple link to your flow and users can complete the steps above on any device, anywhere at any time. Form builders are great in collecting data. They’re not designed to accommodate too many variations in content.
With Flowmatik you don’t even need to include traditional ‘form fields’; you can just build flows with content only. For example a string of YouTube videos someone needs to watch.
Reason 3: Flows inform and handhold users
If your goal is to get data from your users and the questions are straightforward; go for a form builder. If you want to inform users and hand hold them throughout the process; use Flowmatik.
We promote the usage of images and videos within the flow. Let’s say you built a flow that guides evening shift employees through the daily process of closing a restaurant. It’s important that you include pictures on how you want the counter to look like when the employee goes home. Another example would be to include a video on how to set the building alarm. Part of the flow could still contain traditional input fields like the name of the person in charge, the daily revenue, number of food deliveries etc.
The main difference is; flows will guide you through a process while forms are designed to just ask for input.
