There’s Never Another — YOU Are the Only One Left!

For an achiever, it’s easier to pursue success and pay the price of being consistently successful than enjoy the ease of being average. Just the thought of settling into being average is painful when you know you can achieve more than your current circumstances reveal.

But there are times when our progress is so far behind our expectations that we wonder why we keep pushing when it seems our potential will always be beyond our reach. The reason is that the journey to achieving our potential is just that, a journey.

Once you’re on the road to making bigger things happen, you can never get off. Being successful at something you set your mind to is a destination, but success itself is a journey that will always involve “what’s next”.

The “what’s next” doesn’t need to be something material since success doesn’t carry the same definition for everyone. That’s why it’s a unique and lifelong journey because once you have it, the next milestone is maintaining it long-term.

But there are a few things about achieving whatever it is we desire that must be kept in mind. All of them involve the same single asset and liability in the pursuit of any goal, state of life, or the creation of legacy: YOU!

Here are a few principles you should keep in mind, especially when the going gets tough:

“You are the only person who determines your value.”

Keep track of how much time you spend on social media. Why? Because it’s about the presentation on social media and the key ingredient of any achiever’s journey is to know your own value, not in comparison to someone else who seems to be further along in their journey than you are. Yes, hold yourself to a high standard, just ensure it’s you that’s setting the standard, not an interface fighting for your attention.

“You are the only person who can identify your difference and use it to your advantage.”

Follow a success model that’s proven to work to avoid wasting time in trial and error but use your own style and uniqueness to create your own “space.” You have a voice, gifts, and talents that only come naturally to you. The same is true of your flaws, personality traits, and background experiences. Use what’s different about you to make a difference in the lives of those you’re here to serve.

“You are the only person who can help yourself.”

If you feel you’re starting all over with very few resources, or worse, rebuilding from zero, you only need one resource committed to sticking in there through thick and thin: YOU!

If you live in a free society, you are the only one there when you start. Even if you’re living under the treachery of horrible circumstances, you are still the only one that can get and keep yourself going. A movie I love that illustrates this idea is The Way Back. Check it out and you’ll see what I mean. Your own positive self-talk is what you start with.

Don’t worry about the other resources you need; they’ll be attracted to you in miraculous ways. Just don’t let “you” let yourself down.

“Being successful is also about knowing that the only person in the way of your success is you.”

This is the easiest to grasp: if only you can help yourself, then only you are standing in the way of moving forward in your journey to the peace of mind that success and achievement grant to those who’ve shown the resilience to win!

On those lonely mornings when your non-completed tasks seem to pile up. Those days when you’ve charged your card to the max trying to bring your idea to market. Those times you wish you had someone to help you make sense of what you’re doing and encourage you to keep going. Just remember, there is no one coming, YOU are the only one left!

Wish you all the blessings and success you deserve.
