Community-driven companies are at the core of our investment thesis so we ended our week on a strong note with a session titled, The Community Playbook. The participants in the discussion have built extensive communities across social networks, platforms, and venture capital. They included:

  • Bailey Richardson: Partner, People & Company, Author of Get Together: How to Build a Community with Your People, Formerly part of the early team at Instagram
  • Lolita Taub: Co-Founder and General Partner, The Community Fund
  • Jono Bacon: Community Guru, Author of People Powered, Formerly of GitHub

Creating Great Leaders Through Trust, Inclusion, and Empowering Others.

The pledge is to improve diversity at the corporate board level and fill a board seat with a Black director in the upcoming year.

This set an enthusiastic tone for the next discussion: Building a Board of Directors and How to Manage it. Tailored to early-stage founders in the process of building a board, the panelists had an honest and lively discussion about the evolution through the different stages of building and managing a board of directors through a lens of real experience. …
