Strategies and stories for founders building community-driven companies.

For the last few years, Flybridge has had a strongly-held belief in the power of community as a competitive advantage. It’s a view that has led to our investing in massively successful communities like:

  • MongoDB (NASDAQ: MDB; a community of developers)
  • Chief (a community of female executives)
  • Splice (a community of musical artists)
  • Codecademy (a community of learners).
  • It even led us to make a very “meta” investment in Commsor, a promising startup that is building the CRM for communities.

Since we laid out our community investment thesis, we have engaged with some of the top community thinkers to inform and craft a Community Playbook for Founders. It represents a detailed guide for entrepreneurs to provide the practical “how-to” in the form of an accessible eBook.

The Community Playbook for Founders has four chapters:

  • Community formation and engagement
  • Product feedback, experience, and support
  • Community-based business models
  • Measuring community ROI

In it, we draw on community gurus like Jono Bacon formerly of Github and Bailey Richardson formerly of Instagram, and share the best practices of companies who employ community as a competitive advantage like the companies above as well as Atlassian and Honeybook.

We hope you enjoy the Community Playbook for Founders and look forward to engaging the community founders passionate about this important topic in the days ahead!

Feel free to share across any and all of your channels — we’d love your feedback!
