This must end, though the truth is that there is no end in sight for this war. It’s essential not to look away, but instead to bear witness and to channel grief, anger, and confusion into action on behalf of the people of Syria. Every life has equal value, and when atrocity happens, we are all responsible for countering darkness with light, to right what is wrong. The world is filled with suffering, and there is only one thing stronger. We must protect humanity, theirs and ours, with everything we’ve got. Because there is no “us” and there is no “them” and we are all in this together.
There are organizations fighting every day to save Syrian lives. Do what you can to support them as they work tirelessly to help Syrian refugees (over half of the population) and those still within the country. Millions need humanitarian assistance, with children often bearing the brunt of the conflict. In a million lifetimes, no child should have to see what Syrian children have gone through in a single day, every day, for the past six years.
To save one life is to save all of humanity. ~The motto of The White Helmets
We must not look away.
