I think there’s a lot of unfairness in some things you say, for example having to buy devices to be up to date. I don’t think that’s necessary, also don’t think emulators are that expensive to start up or that build/deploy cycles should be blamed on Java while most of the time is usually on dexing, and even that can be drastically reduced if configured properly.

Of course , kotlin is not the answer specially if you see so many problems not related to Java at all.
