I am not a fan of John McCain, never have been. Politically, he like many others, is a Democrat in Republican clothing. He has always worked to “cross the aisle” forgetting that his constituents didn’t vote for him to do that.

As a staunch Conservative/Libertarian, I almost resent him being associated with conservatism in any way, shape or form. I think he is more a neo-liberal, but more than that, he is pure politician with no real values to stand-on or defend.

Before I continue, I would like to point out that YOU do NOT get to define what a war hero is. My liberty is important to me and regardless of how you feel about it, I am forever grateful to any person who voluntarily enlists who is then forced to put his life on the line. Regardless of your assertion, they ARE heroes to me and many others like me.

The reason for being in Vietnam was good with the outcome “BAD” due to a system of politics that would never allow the military to do its job and a media hell bent on painting the military as evil and inept(This was evidenced, for example, when the media claimed the Tet Offensive a failure when it was actually a complete success.). I’m sure the Vietnamese who lost in the civil war there would disagree with you since they were fighting communism. We were trying to bring the “peace” that you claim to stand for to those people.

But, you have obviously been educated by a few hippies and perhaps the media and this is simply a recipe for a pure emotional reaction that takes little empirical data into account.

We should NEVER have meddled in Egypt or Libya as neither posed a threat to the U.S. So I would especially agree with you on Libya. Gaddafi was keeping the radical Islam factions at bay. When we toppled and killed him it created a vacuum that McCain AND his partner-in-crime, Hillary Clinton hadn’t planned for…or perhaps they did.

I reiterate that I can NOT stand John McCain, but I think that it is worthy to point out that, along with Hillary Clinton, you failed to mention the “war mongering” and evil of Barrack Obama. For they both initially lied to American about the reason why four Americans lost their lives by trying to cover up a terrorist attack, claiming a rogue video and protest was responsible. And why? So that Americans wouldn’t know how inept Clinton was to protect her own people OR perhaps that she deliberately did not protect her own people. Either way, we do know that scenario would not have even happened had it not been for American meddling by the Obama administration, which included more than just John McCain.

You have a “real good, feel good” pacifist and peaceful view of the world that seems to assume that America is the only evil that exists. Well, you are wrong. There are regimes all over the world that hate the U.S. as well as any other country. While you would likely argue that this hatred comes only as a result of what the U.S. has “done to deserve” this, the truth is, evil exists all over the world.

While I don’t support getting into war haphazardly, I do think that it is stupid to assume that everyone wants to get along with us and the we are the only problem. One of the few actual requirements of government by the Constitution is to protect its people from foreign invaders. Waiting for them to attack when prevention is possible is ludicrous.

Pacifism is the force that transformed France, in only one generation, from a formidable opponent in WWI to the pansies that gave up quickly to the Germans in WWII. Churchill commented on this before France even fell and Charles De Gualle blamed academia’s pacifist teachings for destroying what essentially amounts to France’s fighting spirit.

I find it ironic that someone who espouses “peace” and “anti death”, would celebrate a “war-monger’s” inevitable death. I find it even more interesting that you only choose the neoliberal to bash so hard when he has crossed the aisle so many times to work with other neoliberals.
