I’m impressed — most kids, including me, woke up as late as possible on school days. To have the discipline to not only wake up early, but also complete your homework is quite impressive.

I’m also self-employed and I find that is a double-edged sword for schedules. On one hand, I’m extremely type-A and I love routines, structures and plans. On the other hand, no one is forcing me to be in the office or produce. For my personality type, I’ve found that by ‘forcing’ structure on my day it makes me more productive and focused on the tasks I need to complete.

Finally, this year is actually the first time in about 6 years that I’m eating breakfast at all. Prior to January 1, I was not eating my first meal until 11:30 — Noon. With the slow carb diet, one of the main tenets is to eat within one hour of waking up. As you can see, I don’t quite hit that metric but I find it takes me a little bit to work up an appetite in the morning. Also, I heat up my lentils in the oven each morning so I somewhat multi-task by having those in the oven while I get my workout in. Thanks for your thoughtful comment!
