The difference between web 3.0 and web 2.0
In the beginning, web 1.0 was created. Then, with the internet usage and the need for innovation, the current web 2.0 was created; then, web 3.0
But you might have been wondering,
what exactly is the meaning of web 2.0 and web 3.0? Are we currently using it?
Web 3.0 originally called Sematic whip by worldwide web inventor, Tim Berners-Lee is an idea for a new version of the internet in which apps and websites use a new kind of database called Blockchain .
For better understanding, let’s start from the very first beginning, which is web 1.0
Web 2.0 is the internet era that we know of today. Companies started with a lot of free tools that allows anyone to create and upload content online via platforms like YouTube, Facebook(now META), Pinterest, Twitter, etc.
The web 3.0 was born out of a natural evolution of older generation web tools combined with copying cutting edge technologies like Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain. Apparently, internet 3.0 is an upgrade to its precursors : web 1.0_static web(1989 to 2005) and web 2.0_Social web(2005 till date). Web 2.0 is still the current web being used where the net is a lot more interactive_ all thanks to the advancement in web technologies like JavaScript, Html, CSS and all the other programming languages which enable startups to build interactive web platforms like YouTube, Reddit, Twitter, Instagram, Wikipedia, and Amazon which paved the way for both social networks and user-generated content production to flourish since data can now be distributed between various platforms and applications.
Web 2.0 makes use of collective intelligence (a.k.a. crowd knowledge) to generate relevant information. In that sense, Web 3.0 is a step ahead, with applications that think for themselves and link to one another to give you the best possible outcome.
Online 2.0 is all about developing material for the web using the read-write web standard, which allows rich media, web applications, and sharing information to be created. Web 3.0, on the other hand, is all about semantics and recognizing user behavior in order to interact with them.
Web 2.0 is all about building relationships and communicating with one another. Web 3.0 is all about giving those conversations and relationships more intelligence
On Web2 Twitter can censor any account or tweet, while Web3 tweets would not be censorable because control is decentralized;
Payment service may decide to not allow payments for certain types of work
Web3 payment apps require no personal data and can’t prevent payments.
These are just some of the pros that Web3 is going to bring.
Communication on Web3 is going to be much safer also. Some decentralized mails like ledger mail or Cryptor mail are already developed and can be used on Web2, so you can try it.
