Visualisation easily becomes fantasy. The whole “Secret” scam really worries me: encouraging people to envision another reality instead of creating it. The kind of situation where people talk about being thin and well read while supping on donuts, while watching reality television.

On the other hand, if someone is hanging out with a talented group of musicians who are looking for a lead singer but she is too shy to say she’d like to sing — yes, that’s a context where that person should communicate her ambitions.

Or if someone is working as the coffee boy in a busy real estate office, sharing his ambitions to become either a listings assistant or later a buyer’s agent is a good way to attract mentorship.

So yes there are contexts where I could agree.
