Be Deliberate — Part 2
Tip 3 — Do the Work!
So most of us want to be successful; children and adults alike. We read stories and are inspired by people’s achievements but we sometimes feel like we are not in a position to achieve even a fraction of it.
I recently had the opportunity to hear Pastor Fela Durotoye speak at my church. He stated that many highly successful people have the ‘principles’ but not the ‘Prince’. Most Christians, have the Prince but not the principles. Now imagine what will happen when we combine the Prince with the principles. I was blown away! The Prince he referred to is Jesus, and the principles are guidelines we are taught to live by in order to be successful. A combination of the two will make you the Ultimate Supernaturally Successful individual that God has called you to be!
Taking Action is about being deliberate about what God has put you on earth to do. He has given you a vision and He expects that you believe in it and work towards it daily, by equipping yourself with His grace to achieve it. To work towards your vision and avoid distractions, you need to be deliberate about what you see, what you hear, who your friends are and so much more.
As a child of God, you are an HEIR of God! Did you know there are over 8000 Promises in the Bible? If you received a promise a day, it would take at least 22 years to run through all His promises! Yet, why do so many believers under-perform, under-achieve and ‘under-other things’ in life?
God expects us to shine, not be mediocre! But in order to do so, we have to work! After all, the Bible states that ‘FAITH without WORKS is DEAD.’ You can have all the faith in the world, but if you do not WORK, it is DEAD. It is like a chemical reaction:
Tip 4 — Be Obedient
Obedience! Obedience! Obedience! This is the main ingredient in the chemical equation that leads to God’s blessings and promises. For most of His promises, there is an instruction attached to it. That instruction needs OBEDIENCE :) for the promise to be fulfilled. So for every blessing God has in the bible, there is an action required from us that unlocks the blessing. It’s like a treasure chest that needs a key to be unlocked.
Faith activates obedience just like the key opens the treasure chest.
Do not overthink it when God asks you to do something, JUST DO IT! Even though what He is asking you might seem unthinkable or even ridiculous, your obedience is required to activate His blessings. So remember, your level of obedience is related to the level of promises you are able to unlock! The more obedient you are, the more treasure chests you will unlock.
When God instructed Abraham to kill Isaac, he obeyed without asking questions. That is major! Can you do the same? Can I as well? Can we be obedient in even the little things? If God tells you not to go somewhere, will you obey? If He asks you to cut off a relationship, will you? If He says don’t take that job that looks so amazing and will make you rich in your own eyes, will you listen?
If we can’t be obedient with little things, why would He give us more? I liken it to an office job where you get promoted based on merit, having proved yourself at your current level. Have you done even the basic things He asked you to do? Are you due for a promotion in the Kingdom of God?
Tip 5 — Be Diligent
So our final tip is one of the best lessons I have learnt in a LONG time! We have to be diligent in ALL things. Not some, but ALL, no matter how easy or difficult it is. Remember that it is one thing to obey God but it is another to do what He requires of you EXCELLENTLY.
Nowadays, we hardly attend a Nigerian wedding or any event frankly without at least attempting to be ‘On Fleek.’ We are very deliberate and diligent in our efforts to look fabulous and we spend so much time preparing for these events so that we ‘appear’ a certain way. I am not even sure how many brides you will catch without a professional make-up artist “beating” her face for her big day. And of course, the result is the ULTIMATE Fleek ;) (well hopefully lol). The brides are very deliberate with their look; they don’t leave their wedding day look to chance. Because of this, they make sure they employ an excellent make-up artist that would achieve their dream look.
Now do we do the same in other areas of our lives?
Are you ‘on fleek’ for God? Can God see you and say yes, that is my child that is focused, deliberate and for my Kingdom?
At the end of the day, remember that you have to be deliberate in your actions to have a close relationship with God and achieve the goals He has set out for you.
Finally, you might ask, what are the benefits of being deliberate? We all know people who appear as though God spends extra time blessing them and everything they do. If you study their habits and way of life, you will notice how disciplined and most especially, DELIBERATE they are about what they do to achieve their success. They were not “lucky” and fell into their success; rather, they were VERY deliberate about it.
Proverbs 22:29 — Do you see a man diligent in his business? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before obscure men.
Be Deliberate, xx
Here is Part 1 incase you missed it.
