So, Now What?

Where do we go from here? What specific issues should we focus on? And what’s the fastest way to implement progressive policies again?

Well, there’s a whole lot of issues that need solving. Climate change, income and wealth inequality, unsafe drinking water for minority cities, an embarrassingly low minimum wage, the constant bombings in the middle east, the list goes on. However, there’s one obstacle that is making these issues almost impossible to act on, let alone solve. And no, it’s not Donald Trump (although he is contributing to the problem).

The reason why we aren’t getting anything done anymore is this: our politicians are owned, and funded by corporate America.

We won’t be able to make a significant difference in solving climate change unless our politicians aren’t being funded by the fossil fuel industry. We won’t be able to make a significant difference in solving the constant bombings in the middle east unless our politicians aren’t being funded by the military industrial complex. We won’t be able to make a significant difference in solving high prescription drug prices unless our politicians aren’t being funded by the pharmaceutical industry. Again, the list goes on.

We need to get big money out of politics, and get campaign finance reform or otherwise we won’t get significant progress in any issues we care about. But how exactly do we go about doing this? Well, there’s an initiative that is not only trying to get big money out of politics, but also stands for the issues that matter.

The Justice Democrats. Run by several ex-Bernie-staffers and members of the progressive news community on YouTube, it’s goal is to essentially replace all of the corporate democrats with real progressives who care about the issues that matter. You can nominate candidates, and give money to train and run the candidates for office. With this system, all of the candidates would be real Americans who would know the real struggles of the American people and wouldn’t sell out to corporate America. And if the goal of taking over the democratic party is accomplished, and if the democratic party wins majorities in legislatures and offices in the executive branch, the two party system would be torn apart from the inside out. Third parties would be given funding major parties normally get, would automatically be included in all debates and ballots, and would be given more opportunities to win by getting rid of the electoral college, and establishing a ranked-choice voting system. This means the two current major political parties would be, in a sense, regulated by third parties to make sure they stay loyal to the American people, not the American elite.

The Justice Democrats would basically solve all of the major problems with our political system, its funding, and its agenda. So what are we waiting for? Let’s continue the revolution. http://www.justicedemocrats.com/
