I waded through the all the totally irrelevant stuff in this article and then was immediately confused by the beginning of your Bloom filter explanation. I went to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-SuTGoFYjZs instead and learned the concept quickly. The confusing thing here is that you use three letter words, and suddenly say you are passing them to “three hash functions” and I’m thinking uh, wait three /different/ hash functions? Surely he doesn’t mean that… is this just a broken way of trying to say that he’s hashing each letter individually using the same hash function?
